What You Get with a Minecraft Server

A Minecraft server is a little different from a regular game of Minecraft. You can customize the settings in a number of ways to make it work however you want, and you can play with a select group of friends, which makes world-building a much more collaborative effort.

First off though, let’s talk about what Minecraft really is.

Your Raspberry Pi isn’t the only device that can run a Minecraft server. Any computer with Minecraft installed can do it. What makes the Raspberry Pi nice is the fact that you can just plug it in and leave it running all the time and it won’t consume a lot of power. Likewise, if you have another personal computer, it doesn’t take up memory running in the background.
